A survey of fence companies

Your next fence job starts with a phone you didn't answer

I build fence companies a website that's live before the trial ends, and I wire it to text back every missed call and reply to every quote request. $97 a month, 14-day free trial, no sales call.

Card on file, nothing charged for 14 days. Site live on your domain before day 14, or the first month is free.

The lost job

Saturday morning in May. Fence season just opened.

This happens to fence companies every week. Not because the work is bad. Because your crew are on an install and nobody is at the phone.

  1. 8:41amA family in Pewaukee brings home a golden retriever puppy and searches "fence installation near me" before their coffee's cold.
  2. 8:44amFour company websites come up. Two load fast and show a price range. Two are slow and don't say what a 150-foot backyard runs.
  3. 8:52amThey call the first two. One goes to voicemail because the owner is up on a ladder setting posts. The other rings through to a crew truck with no signal.
  4. 9:15amThe third company has a form. They fill it out. Nobody replies that day.
  5. 11:30amThe fourth company's site texts back the second the call is missed: "Sorry we missed you, this is Mike's Fence, what's the project?" They text the yard photo back.
  6. 1:00pmMike's crew is on-site measuring by Monday. The other three companies never hear from that family again.
Where the calls go

Three places fence companies lose work they already earned.

You're on a ladder, not by a phone

Nobody digs postholes with a cell phone in hand. Every call that goes to voicemail during install season is a homeowner who's already dialing the next name on the list.

Your site doesn't say what a fence costs

A homeowner who can't find a price range leaves and calls someone whose site has one. You don't need exact numbers, you need a range that keeps them on your page.

Reviews dry up between busy seasons

Fence work is seasonal, so review requests get forgotten between April and November. A thin, stale review page reads as a company that stopped caring.
What gets built during the trial

A site for a fence company owner, page by page.

Built on your own domain, on accounts you own. Leave later and it is yours for $299, one time.

PageWhy it is there
HomeStates the trade, the towns you serve, and a clear next step above the fold.
Wood fencingIts own page for the material homeowners search by name, with a price range.
Vinyl fencingSame treatment for vinyl, since it's a different buyer than wood.
Aluminum fencingPool code and ornamental look questions get answered here, not buried on one page.
Chain linkThe budget and pet-containment searches land here with a straight answer on cost.
Service areaNames Delafield, Oconomowoc, Pewaukee, Hartland, Waukesha, and your other towns by name so local search finds you.
ReviewsLive feed of your Google reviews, kept current instead of six months stale.
Get a quoteOne short form, wired to text and email you the second it's submitted.

Running from day 10

  • Missed-call text-back

Every call you can't take while you're setting posts gets an instant text: who called, what they need, and a link to your quote form. You call back with the job already half-scoped.

  • Instant form reply

A homeowner who fills out your quote form gets a reply in under a minute, not whenever you get off the ladder. That speed is most of the reason they pick you over the other three.

  • Review requests after every job

The day a fence goes up, the homeowner gets a text asking for a Google review while the new fence is still the best thing that happened to their yard that week.

  • Google Business Profile kept accurate

Hours, service area, and photos stay current all year, including the months you're not actively posting because you're buried in installs.

What Grow adds, $297/mo

  • Lead qualification and scheduling, so tire-kickers get filtered before they hit your calendar
  • Quote follow-up, so a homeowner who went quiet after your bid gets a nudge instead of silence
  • One new local page a month (a town, a material, a project type) to keep search finding you
  • Facebook ad templates loaded and ready for the spring rush
Two plans, one price sheet

No call to find out the price.

The fencing calendar
April through November
Wisconsin's real install season. The ground has to be workable and posts need a real footing, so this is when the volume hits and when a missed call costs the most.
Winter (December through March)
Frozen ground makes digging a proper footing impractical for most crews. This is quote season: homeowners plan their spring fence now, and your site should be capturing those leads even when you're not swinging a post auger.
Diggers Hotline, every job
Wisconsin law requires a Diggers Hotline (811) locate at least three working days before you dig, on every job, including a homeowner's own yard. Your site should say you handle this so it's one less thing the customer worries about.
Frost line footings
Wisconsin's building code requires footings below the frost penetration depth or at least 48 inches, whichever is deeper. A site that explains why your posts are set deep is a site that reads as the company that does it right.
What I put in writing

If this goes sideways, that's on me, not you.

  • You own everything. Your domain, your listings, your ad accounts, and your content live in your accounts, in your name. Your code, your data, and your phone number are yours by contract and transfer on request, and the continuity kit you get at go-live shows your next developer exactly how. Walk away whenever you want and you keep all of it.
  • Your site is live before the 14-day trial ends, or your first month is free. I don't need a quarter to build a website.
  • If something I built misses the scope we agreed to, I fix it at no extra charge, full stop. And every system gets its first 30 days of tuning included, measured against the goal we set together before I built it. You just answer your calls and send me your photos.
Questions fence companies ask

I already have a Facebook page. Do I need a website?

Facebook doesn't show up when someone searches "fence installation near me" on Google, and it doesn't let you post a price range or a service-area page. A real website is what shows up in that search, and it's what makes your company look established next to the three other companies that homeowner is comparing.

How fast can I actually get a site live?

Before your 14-day free trial ends, or your first month is free. That's the guarantee, not a sales line.

I'm slammed April through November. Who keeps this running?

I do. The missed-call text-back, the review requests, and the monthly check on your site and Google profile run on their own once they're set up. You don't touch it during your busiest months, which is the whole point.

Do I need to handle Diggers Hotline calls myself, or can the site do that?

The site can't call in a locate for you, that's still a call you or your crew makes, at least three working days before you dig, on every job. What the site does is say clearly on your page that you handle it, which reads as competence to a homeowner comparing bids.

What happens to my reviews between busy seasons?

Every completed job triggers a review request automatically, so your review page stays current in July and in December, not just during your busiest six weeks.

What if I want to cancel?

Cancel anytime from your account, month to month, no contract. If you want to take the site itself when you go, that's a $299 buyout, and it's your call.
